Article: Family's nightmare holiday at sea

A BIRMINGHAM family who booked a two-week sunshine cruise holiday thought their time was up when their ship stopped dead in the water - on three occasions.

The family of four had booked a pounds 2,000 cruise on the 32,000 tonne SS Edinburgh Castle, operated by London-based Direct Cruises which was recently purchased by the giant Airtours Group.

Direct Cruises has now offered the family pounds 200 in compensation as a result of their complaints surrounding the cruise which took the ship and its 1,400 passengers on a journey from Liverpool to Oporto, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Madeira, Casablanca,Gibraltar and Lisbon.
