Article: Man shot with BB gun

A Brazilian man living in Blenheim is in a comfortable condition at Nelson Hospital this morning following surgery to remove a BB gun pellet that was lodged in his face.

Police said a gun pellet was fired from a passing car in Grove Rd in Blenheim yesterday, hitting the man near the corner of his left eye and then lodging behind his nose.

Constable Michelle Stagg, of Blenheim police, said the man was in the car yard near the railway station when a dark blue sedan drove past, with someone in it shooting metal BB gun pellets late yesterday afternoon.

He was taken to Nelson Hospital and had surgery to have the pellet removed.

Miss Stagg said the man's eyesight did not appear to be damaged.
