Article: Police health warning over mobile phones

WEST Midland Police officers have been urged to restrict calls on mobile phones to five minutes at a time in the wake of new health scares.

The call comes from the region's Police Federation which looks after the interests of 7,000 members.

It also wants to see earpieces issued to officers on request and is warning that the force could be sued by individuals if handsets are proven to be hazardous. The stance follows disturbing evidence linking mobile phones with cancerous brain tumours. Many detectives and senior officers are issued with mobile phones
