THE recent series on the Bull Ring really stirred up memories,
especially for Norman Haddon who now lives in West Sussex.
His sister, Sylvia O'Brien, sent him the articles which "brought
tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat."
Now 75-years-old, Norman recalls that his father was employed by
the City of Birmingham Salvage Department at the Montague Street
depot.
He was George William Haddon and his job was go collect all the
rubbish and refuse from all of the markets "from the Market Hall,
down to the Meat Market abattoir, including the Fish Market in Bell
Street, the Green Market (as we called it) and the RagMarket etc -
