TORIES and Liberal Democrats will be slugging it out to decide
who will be the official lead opposition on Dudley Council after
next month's elections.
Labour have controlled the authority for 14 years and currently
have an outright majority of 34.
This year there are two vacancies for previously Labour held
seats - with ten Liberal Democrats and eight Conservatives in
opposition.
The 72-seat council has 24 seats up for grabs, of which 20 are
currently Labour held.
The Tories, who are defending two seats, are expected to make
some gains, particularly with so many car workers living in the
Dudley area.
