Article: Crash escape driver tragedy ; Died of blood clot three weeks later

A MOTORIST who thought he had walked away from a car smash uninjured died three weeks later from a blood clot on the brain which was probably caused by the accident, a Birmingham inquest heard.

Ronald Davidson, aged 60, went to hospital nearly a month after the crash for a check-up when he started to experience unexplained blackouts, dizzy spells and headaches, the hearing was told yesterday.

Mr Davidson, from Albion Road, Handsworth, died in City Hospital the day after he was admitted last October.

Pathologist Dr Martin Carey told the inquest that the cause of death was a blood clot on the brain which was partly due to a blow to the neck.
