Article: New shoe ready for fast track

A STATE-of-the-art running shoe, tailor-made to match the individual vibrations of its wearer, has been unveiled by scientists.

The new shoe may help athletes to shatter several records at the Olympic Games in Sydney this September, its inventors claim.

Scientists from the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Calgary in Canada, who gave details of the shoe in New Scientist magazine, said the footwear could cut four minutes off a marathon runner's time - and help frail elderly people to walkfurther for longer.
