Article: Worker impaled on iron bar after fall ; Accident at factory extension

A WORKER at a Midland factory suffered horrific injuries when he slipped down a trench and impaled himself on an iron bar.

The man in his 20s fell four foot down the hole and the iron bar went through his abdomen.

Sixteen fire-fighters and a paramedic crew were called to rescue the man from the trench at H Eccles Pattern Makers in Chancel Way, Coombs Wood, Halesowen today.

The accident happened shortly before 11.30am as a team of sub contractors carried out extension work at the factory.
