A CAREER in the hotel industry can mean working unsociable hours
and dealing with just about any problem at a moment's notice, but
it's all in a day's work for one Birmingham manager.
Gerard Hosty works as a shift leader in the concierge department
of The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Birmingham city centre.
It is the first port of call for all guests staying at the 284
bedroom building and sets the tone for their stay.
'At times there can be anything from 300 plus guests at the
hotel. You can have anything up to 200 arrivals and departures at
any time so you have to be able to handle the stress,' says 23-year-
old Gerard.
