MOUTH ulcer or mata ikan - whatever you call the whitish lesion
on
the inner surface of the mouth - means spending days or even weeks
in
agony.
Worse if there are more than one lesion at any one time and you
get it over and over again.
There is no instant cure for it. The traditional treatment of
gargling salt water can be painful while the usual topical or oral
steroids come with side-effects and offer no guarantee to a complete
cure.
A Universiti Malaya don, Professor Datuk Hashim Yaacob, believes
lactic acid bacteria (bacteria which produces lactic acid and often
found in yoghurt) holds the cure for patients suffering from
recurring bouts of mouth ulcers.
