ASTHMA, an insidious disease which often deludes patients into
believing that all is well until they suffer a severe attack, is on
the rise.
In industralised countries like Malaysia, the prevalence rate of
asthma is estimated at five per cent of the adult population and 10
per cent of children.
In New Zealand, 16 to 18 per cent of adults and nearly 30 per cent
of the kids have asthma - the highest rate of asthma in the world -
with another 30 per cent of the population at risk of developing
asthma.
