Article: Drop in sponsorship for Malacca zoo this year

SOME sponsors of the Malacca Zoo's animal adoption scheme had either stopped or reduced their annual grants this year due to the economic slowdown.

There are only 42 donors taking part in the scheme compared to 49 last year.

This year's total contribution was RM93,550 compared to RM120,650 last year.

The donors comprised private companies, finance institutions, government agencies, charitable organisations, schools and individuals.

The zoo's public relations officer Masri Mohd Arop said Kuala Lumpur- based company Three V Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd topped the list with its contribution of RM11,000 for the upkeep of a tapir, two crocodiles, a tiger and four deer.
