WEST Midlands Ambulance Service is to launch a new state-of-the-
art helicopter, thanks to the generosity of people in the region.
The EC135 Eurocopter is bigger and faster than the current three-
strong fleet of helicopters being used by the trust for around 2,000
missions a year.
Due to be launched on May 15 at RAF Cosford, the new aircraft co-
incides with the County Air Ambulance's tenth anniversary
celebrations.
The annual running costs of pounds 80,000 for the new helicopter
are being met as a result of the dedicated fundraising by the people
of the West Midlands.
