Article: Riding centre extension in doubt

A PRESTIGIOUS Solihull-based riding centre is set to be refused permission to extend its premises after planning chiefs considered the plans would be 'alien' to the surrounding countryside.

Solihull Riding Club in Four Ashes Road had applied for planning permission to erect a glass entrance porch in front of its reception area in a bid to protect the horses from wind and the noise and disturbance of riders coming and going.

But in a report to Solihull Council's planning sub-committee officers have recommended the plans be thrown out on the grounds that the porch would be more like a conservatory and would encroach on the openness of the site, ...
