WHAT more fitting place was there to lay a wreath in memory of the Old Bull Ring than old Nelson's Statue? He'd been there since 1809, having been unveiled just a couple of years after the Bull Ring of Memory had emerged from the clearance of decrepit houses in Spiceal Street, the Bull Ring and the bottom end of High Street.

And now as that Bull Ring was to be thrown so swiftly into the past, his noble frame stood encased in rusty scaffolding and mucky planks of wood.
