WARNER Bros Pictures has always been one of the more consistent
Hollywood film studios in terms of producing critically-acclaimed
and box-office hits, but at the Oscars they are one of the
unluckiest.
Along with Universal Pictures, Warner Bros has chalked up the
lowest number of Best Pictures, with `only' six triumphs each.
But then again, in the corporate world where it also matters,
Warner Bros has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the
major components of AOL Time Warner, the largest multi-media company
in the world.
How this studio reached that pinnacle is as fascinating as the
inspiring rags-to-riches movies regularly churned out by the
Tinseltown dream factories.
