WE have done our part and it is now up to the Immigration
Department.
Labour Standard Division director Wahab Salleh said only the
Immigration Department can get the employers to release the workers'
passports.
He was commenting on why the department could not help the 113
Indian nationals to get back their passports which were being held
by their employers.
They were employed by a textile company in Batu Pahat, Johor, to
work as production operators for two years.
The company refused to release their passports as it had spent a
tidy sum on the levy on the foreign workers.
The workers wanted to go home as they claimed that their
employers had deducted their salary to pay for levy and that ...
