Article: Race row officer praised in police reports

AN English policeman has failed in his bid to prove that Lothian's and Borders Police were racist - although he was described as a "competent, diligent and personable" officer.

An industrial tribunal in Edinburgh unanimously rejected Sgt Alan Caulfield's case against the force.

The tribunal had heard he was partly responsible for his own downfall by being unable to take criticism from his bosses. The tribunal found that although Mr Caulfield's boss called him "a bent English b******" and "an arrogant English c***", the remarks were directed to him as a former member of the Metropolitan Police than as an Englishman.
