TEN years ago, Edinburgh Park was just a twinkle in the council's eye.

It was an unspectacular collection of green fields squeezed between the newly-opened city bypass and an emerging South Gyle. Today it is well on the way to becoming Scotland's fourth-biggest commercial centre outside Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh city.

The 4000 staff working on the park will grow to 5000 by the end of 1999, and 15,000 when the site is completed over the next five to seven years. That's the size of a small town.
