REGAL Hotels is in talks to take over rival group County Hotels
in
a deal believed to be worth around GBP 120 million.
Regal's 90-strong chain of three-star provincial hotels includes
the Maitland Hotel in Shandwick Place, Edinburgh, the Queensferry
Lodge in North Queensferry and the Tontine Hotel in Peebles, while
County's portfolio of 25 properties includes the Forth Bridges Hotel
in South Queensferry.
It is not known what effect the takeover will have on jobs north
of the Border.
