AN Edinburgh councillor found to have committed a "very serious
error of judgment" in a row over "electioneering" was today free of
the threat of further action.
Liberal Democrat councillor and former Scottish Parliament hopeful
Mike Pringle won't be punished for using council money to write to
more than 2000 taxi drivers before May's elections.
Councillor Pringle had mailed a letter and questionnaire asking
for cabbies' views on a controversial council decision to issue ten
new taxi plates a month.
Conservative councillor Tom Ponton complained, saying Mr Pringle
