DOCTORS are to change the way they log hospital waiting lists to
reveal exactly how long patients wait for treatment.
The move was announced today after claims the Government "fiddled"
figures showing a waiting list drop of more than 40,000.
The fall in the number of people waiting for hospital treatment
was the first since Labour came to power in May last year.
But the Tories said the drop did not reflect how long patients
were waiting because of delays in getting hospital appointments, and
challenged Health Secretary Frank Dobson to produce the "real
figures".
The 45,399 drop, which follows a fall in Scotland's waiting lists,
is thought to be the biggest three-month decrease in the 50 ...
