CHILDREN could be banned from using mobile phones at school in a
bid to protect them from leukaemia and brain tumours.
Strict guidelines were unveiled today warning the thousands of
pupils who now carry phones to use them carefully to minimise health
risks.
But the next stage could be an outright ban during school hours.
The city council wants to take precautions in the face of
conflicting claims over the damage phones can cause. Some scientists
say microwaves emitted from phones can affect the body by heating up
small areas, usually around the head while the phone is pressed to
it.
