EAST KILBRIDE deservedly emerged victorious from a tremendous BT Cellnet Shield final.

Southern fought back after conceding two early tries to lead at half time before the New Town side came back to claim the silverware in a match featuring some superb open rugby.

The game opened at a furious pace which continued throughout and East Kilbride were quicker to find their form.

The New Town men squandered a third minute scoring opportunity when MacAllister was off target with a 25 metre penalty from in front of the posts. But the lead was only delayed and with six minutes on the clock the Premier 2 side moved ahead.
