AN anti-racism campaign was launched today to tackle Edinburgh's
growing number of racist incidents.
Black and minority ethnic community leaders vowed to get tough on
the city's racists with the three-year action plan.
The campaign is set to oversee the introduction of a scheme to
record every racial incident across the city to record the true
extent of the problem.
The group is also calling for the introduction of a new city-
wide anti-racism campaign in the wake of a recent dramatic rise in
racial incidents.
Latest police figures show the number of racist incidents in the
Lothian and Borders area increased by 62 per cent in a year.
