A GLUT of Harry Potter toys is set to hit Britain before the New Year but not in time for Christmas, it emerged today.

Toy manufacturer Mattel had hoped to launch a range of games before Christmas on the back of the phenomenal success of the books about the trainee wizard.

But a supply problem has meant that "only a handful" of the new games have been imported to Britain so far.

The toys, which will now go on sale for the first time on December 27, include a Harry Potter trivia quiz which will test fans' knowledge of the pint-sized hero's antics.
