Article: "Warm Pool" in Pacific Alters Climatic Conditions

Indonesian and foreign scientists are still puzzled by the "warm pool" phenomena found in the Pacific ocean that had altered climatic conditions in the region in recent years.

Marine experts from Indonesia, Japan, the United States, Australia, Britain, France and the Netherlands expressed the puzzle at a workshop here today to discuss the recent research on the oceanic current in Indonesian waters.

The phenomena are that land and water areas close to the "warm pool" region experience prolonged rainy seasons, floods, a decline in fish production and a rise in agriculture production.
