Article: CDU Wins State Election in Berlin

The ruling Christian Democrats (CDU) remained the largest party in Berlin after getting 37.5 percent of the votes at the state election today.

Early returns showed that the Social Democrats got 23.3 percent of the votes, a 7.1 percent drop, to rank second in front of the Party of Democratic Socialism, which got 14 percent of the votes as against 9.2 percent in the last state election.

The poll results meant that the CDU will be in charge of forming the next state government.
