Article: Traditional Chinese Medicine Popular in Hong Kong

A senior health official said today that traditional Chinese medicine is extremely popular in Hong Kong, with a large proportion of the population using Chinese medicinal materials in their diets or as health tonics from time to time.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Regional Workshop on Traditional Medicine, Secretary for Health and Welfare Katherine Fok said that though the mainstay of health care remained to be western medicine in Hong Kong, traditional Chinese medicine served as an important and common means of health maintenance for the public.
