Article: Copenhagen to Host Festivals of European Culture for 1996

Beginning on January 1, 1996, the Danish capital of Copenhagen will be put in the limelight in a series of festivals glorifying the European culture.

The Danish Ambassador to Belgium Ole Philipson told reporters here today that the celebrations will run throughout the next year.

Copenhagen will host the grand events as an honor given by the 12-member European Community, which decided in 1986 to select a European metropolis as a "city of European culture" with an aim to promote European integration.
