Article: King Fahd Suggested Not to Attend GCC Summit

King Fahd Ibn Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia, who has not decided whether to take part in the 16th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit, has been suggested not to attend.

The Royal Court of Saudi Arabia issued an official statement today from Riyadh that the monarch is now in good condition, but doctors suggested him to have a period of rest.

The Royal Court announced Thursday that King Fahd, 73, had been admitted to hospital for an ordinary medical check-up.

Local press quoted sources in the kingdom as saying that the monarch apparently suffered a fainting spell but "there is no panic or concern."
