CHEYENNE -- Teton County is growing like a weed, something Gov.
Jim Geringer says he didn't expect.
"The amount of growth (there), it's mildly surprising, although
from what I've heard from people up there, they're feeling the
pressure of growth," he said Tuesday at his regular weekly news
conference.
Teton County grew 63.4 percent between 1990 and 2000, making it
far and away the fastest-growing county in Wyoming.
Census 2000 figures released Tuesday showed Teton County jumped
from 11,172 people in 1990 to 18,251 a decade later.
The numbers detailed changes to Wyoming county, city and town
populations. They were released an hour before the 3 p.m. news
conference.
