CHEYENNE -- Making a conscious choice to try to eat healthier was one reason Carol Rumann decided to integrate olive oil into her family's diet.

"I think it's healthier than other oils," Rumann said. "We use it all the time now."

A number of health studies conducted in recent years back up Rumann's opinion about olive oil, finding it helps protect people from cancers and heart disease.

"New research continues to point to a myriad of ways that the monounsaturated fat and other minor constituents found in olive oil have substantial health attributes," said Dr. Barbara Levine, director of the Nutritional Information Center at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
