CASPER -- The potential shape of a Wyoming income tax appears to
be flat, simple and somewhat dependent on federal income tax.
Tax Reform 2000 Committee members agreed Monday, but not
unanimously, that an income tax would likely be a part of their
final recommendations.
A statewide income tax vision was presented by Daniel Noble, an
administrator with the state Department of Revenue, to the committee
members at a hotel in Casper. The plan divided Wyoming taxpayers
into seven tax brackets, from those who earn under $20,000 to those
who earn more than $200,000:
Those under $20,000 would pay no state income tax.
Those from $20,000 to $30,000 would pay 0.99 percent of their
income in state ...
