Article: HIGHWAY PATROL REORGANIZES

CHEYENNE -- A plan to reorganize the Wyoming Highway Patrol goes into effect today. It alters the workings of the patrol but will not impact services.

"It changes the internal complexion of the highway patrol in an unprecedented fashion," said Col. John Cox, Wyoming Highway Patrol administrator.

Plans for the reorganization started a year ago. The change was designed to help the patrol run more efficiently and to better use its employees, Cox said.

As a result, numerous positions have been reclassified to higher ranks. Also, some functions of the patrol were shifted from one chain of command to another.
