Article: TAX CODE: CONGRESS CAN UNDUE THE DAMAGE

With this year's tax deadline looming next month, the grass roots effort to do something about our country's current tax code has prompted a puzzling response from the White House.

For at least the last two years, President Clinton has lobbied hard to convince America's families he's on their side. That is, unless the tax code is involved.

President Clinton recently called lawmakers "irresponsible" for suggesting America do away with its current tax code and try to come up with something less complicated and more equitable. Maybe he should ask families now slaving over their tax forms in anticipation of the April 15 deadline to uncross their eyes and tell him what
