CHEYENNE -- Anglers who enjoy fishing Yellowstone Lake in
Yellowstone National Park have two reasons to be happy.
First, the park opened fishing at the lake on June 1, about two
weeks earlier than in past years.
Second, for the third consecutive season, anglers can catch and
keep as many lake trout from Yellowstone Lake as they like. In fact,
they're required to do so.
"We wanted to get a start on getting some of the lake trout out
of Yellowstone Lake, which are jeopardizing the cutthroat trout
populations," said Cheryl Matthews, assistant chief of public
affairs for Yellowstone National Park.
