SNOWY RANGE -- When driving in Wyoming, the landscape can change
as quickly as the weather.
At first you are surrounded by wide-open prairie. All of a
sudden, you are climbing up the highway lined with pine and aspen
trees. The more you climb, the more the temperature drops. You
notice the thickets of trees now have blotches of snow underneath
them.
Finally, you reach the top of the hill, and instead of seeing
trees on either side of the road, you see walls of snow, as high as
6-8 feet tall. The signal posts have sticks, or other forms of
extensions, so people can see them sticking out of the snow. Signs
