Article: Mars Bar chef to fry his luck in United States

THE chef who brought deep-fried Mars Bars and Irn-Bru sorbet to diners at an exclusive Edinburgh hotel is to take his skills to the United States as part of the annual bid to sell Scotland to the Americans.

Channings' head chef Richard Glennie is flying to Chicago to cook in a series of high-profile hospitality events during Tartan Week.

He is the only Scottish chef chosen to be part of a delegation led by Scotland The Brand and supported by the Scottish Tourist Board.

Among the events will be a lunch attended by Enterprise Minister Wendy Alexander and 250 guests, who will sample Scottish delicacies ...
