Article: Stress fuels healthy results at LA Fitness

HEALTH club operator LA Fitness has reported a 65 per cent hike in profits after benefiting from higher levels of stress in the workplace.

LA Fitness saw its membership shoot up 68 per cent last year to 64,000 as it opened two new gyms in England. The company's portfolio in the UK now stands at 26.

Chief executive Fred Turok explained that more people were turning to fitness clubs as a way to combat the stress caused by the increasing pressures they were facing in the workplace.

"People now feel exercise is a better way of combating stress than any number of pills and potions," he said.
