IT'S coming home, it's coming home. Rugby's coming home.

A crowd of 5410 at Myreside last night confirmed what people have been telling the Scottish Rugby Union for years.

With the exception perhaps of the Harlem Globetrotters, any successful sporting team needs a home and an identity.

The Edinburgh Reivers were never going to work because people didn't know where they were from and where they were going.

To be honest, few people knew where they were, full stop. It could have been Jedburgh or Galashiels or, occasionally, Edinburgh. Mostly it was Wales.

Anyway, with apologies to our friends down the A7 and the A68, who will get a team of their own next season, ditching the Borders ...
