THE Capital's bitter bus war hotted up today as First Edinburgh
unveiled plans for both a GBP 1 flat-rate day ticket and several new
city centre routes.
The FirstDay ticket will allow adult passengers to make unlimited
journeys across Edinburgh before midnight for GBP 1 from Monday
onwards.
Rival Lothian Buses today accused the firm of a "predatory
attack" and claimed the public will suffer from services axed in
outlying areas to enable First Edinburgh to compete head-to-head in
the city.
First Edinburgh managing director George Mair today admitted the
company had borrowed a low-price strategy from no-frills Ryanair in
an attempt to convince local commuters to leave their cars at home.
