CLYDESDALE and Yorkshire Banks, both owned by the National
Australia Bank, today recorded a 10.1 per cent increase in
underlying profits to 546 million pounds.
Stuart Grimshaw, the chief executive, revealed that total lending
was up 8.7 per cent to GBP 14.07 billion compared with the same
period last year, with particularly strong growth in personal loans
and tailored business loans. Retail deposit volumes grew strongly by
9.5 per cent to GBP 9.97bn, with strong growth in high net worth
deposits. In business financial services, total lending was up 11.5
per cent.
