Chinese Premier Li Peng said here today that with joint efforts of
both China and France, bilateral relations have been rapidly restored
and developed.
During a meeting with French President Jacques Chirac here this
evening, Li Peng said that since becoming president, Chirac has made
several friendly statements on Sino-French relations, which indicates
that the French government attached great importance to Sino-French
ties.
Li expressed appreciation for that.
The Chinese premier expressed the hope that Sino-French ties would
further progress along the road opened by the late Chairman Mao
Zedong and President Charles de Gaulle 32 years ago, when Gen. de
