India's ruling Congress Party and the major opposition Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) have virtually kicked off their campaigns for the
coming general elections before the exact schedule is announced, the
local press reported today.
Congress Party President and Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao
Saturday kicked off his party's poll campaign by using an indirect
route a carefully planned one-day visit to his home constituency of
Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh.
When inaugurating a railway project in Nandyal, Rao unfolded his
party's strategy for the coming elections in his slogan: "Give me
stability and I will give you prosperity."
