As the time for the return of Hongkong to China approaches
economic cooperation between China's largest special economic zone of
Hainan and its neighboring Hong Kong is destined to be strengthened.
The development of Hainan could not be separated from that of Hong
Kong, and Hainan will continue to play a positive role in the
prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, said Mao Zhijun, vice governor
of Hainan, in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
Hong Kong has been serving as a window for the opening of Hainan
since the island province was founded in 1988.
About 90 percent of Hainan's foreign trade was developed through
