Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul-Meguid said here today that the call for the convocation of the Pan-Arab summit came at a most appropriate time.

It is high time for Arabs to come together and unify their stands to protect the Middle East peace process and push it forward in the right direction, Abdul-Meguid was quoted as saying by the Egyptian Middle East News Agency (MENA).

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Syrian President Hafez al-Assad and Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia called for convening the summit after their two-day meeting in Damascus, Syria, earlier this month. Twenty-one of the Arab League's 22 members are expected to
