Article: Nigeria Licenses Two Private Refineries

Two private refineries, the first of their kind in Nigeria, have been approved by Head of State Sani Abacha, which will process a total of 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

When the two refineries, reportedly to be export-oriented, come on stream, the country will have a combined daily processing capacity of 745,000 barrels, according to a statement signed last night by Gbenga Onayiga, Press Secretary to the petroleum resources minister.

The country's four existing refineries have a total processing of 445,000 barrels per day.
