A garden has been built on the site of an imperial tomb of the
Tang Dynasty (618-907) in this capital city of northwest China's
Shaanxi Province, adding yet another attraction.
Dotted with Tang-style pavilions and terraces, the garden occupies
the grounds of the Qianling Mausoleum of Wu Zetian (624-705), the
first woman to ascend the Chinese throne, and her husband Li Zhi
(628-683), the third emperor of the Tang Dynasty.
Experts believe that the mausoleum is the only one in the province
never to have been broken into by grave robbers. It is best known
for beautiful stone carvings and steles.
