A 60-part TV series, "Chinese Masters in Calligraphy and
Painting," is being produced to preserve the traditional arts of
calligraphy and painting.
Chen Chen, producer of the series and general manager of
Beijing's
Noah Economic and Cultural Development Company, said today that 20
parts of the series have been completed.
These 20 reflect his desire to preserve China's traditional art,
which could disappear if no steps are taken immediately, because the
20 masters being portrayed are quite old.
Among these are two painters, 105-year-old Zhu Qizhan from
Shanghai and 93-year-old Dong Shouping from north China's Shanxi
Province.
